Google has posted its 2012 New Year's doodle on international landing pages where, due to time zone differences, it's already New Year's Eve. The doodle, shown above, can be found on sites such as google.co.kr(South Korea) or google.co.nz (New Zealand).
Google is known to create a variety of doodles on its multiple homepages for major events, but it looks like this one could be a global doodle. We'll all find out soon enough as we all creep closer to New Year's Eve and 2012

When compiling your list of the ten best films of the year, inevitably a great film or two just won't fit on your final roster. That's where the honorable mention comes in handy. Perhaps the film was a little dumb, a little odd or something was just off, but for whatever reason it didn't make the cut, you love it nonetheless.
We asked the MTV Movies staff to share their honorable mention for the film year that was 2011.
"Source Code"
Duncan Jones' second feature delivered nearly everything I could ask for in a popcorn sci-fi flick: time travel, parallel universes and nifty plot twists that leave you asking friends afterwards, "Wait, what did it mean when...?"Fans of Jake Gyllenhaal's cult fav "Donnie Darko"—which really truly is an awful movie—would be well served to throw some love toward JG's "Code," because it spins a vastly superior sci-fi yarn. Let's all just pretend we took a source-code trip of our own and managed to alter the film's Hollywood ending so it isn't so blandly, cheesily, plot-defyingly nonsensical. -Eric Ditzian
"The Guard"
Something dark and funny runs in the McDonagh family. Martin McDonagh made a name for himself writing twisted, hilarious Irish plays and burst into film with the nearly perfect "In Bruges," starring Colin Farrell andBrendan Gleeson in 2008. This year, his brother John Michael McDonagh hit the same notes with his feature film debut "The Guard," which also stars Gleeson as one of the most misbehaved cops you'll ever see. Gleeson earned a Golden Globe nomination for the role and rightfully so. "The Guard" combines dark humor, heart and a good amount of action to keep you entertained throughout, but it ultimately lacks the depth that made "In Bruges" a modern classic. –Kevin Sullivan
"Insidious"
I'll be honest. I had no interest in seeing "Insidious." When I saw advertisements for it, I immediately dismissed it. But upon seeing images of the snarling, hypnotic creature behind Patrick Wilson, I was beyond intrigued. "Insidious" does a great job setting up a desolate and creepy mood, but unfortunately, it staggers to a flawed and goofy finish. Even so, the visuals are great, and the cast elevates the campiness. If you've got 90 minutes to burn on Netflix, check it out. -Joel Hanek
"Immortals"
From the moment "Immortals" was announced, I was ready to buy a ticket for opening day. A new spin on the Theseus versus the Titans myth? A cast of very attractive actors? All under the direction of the exuberant, visionary ground-breaker Tarsem Singh? Talk about winning combinations. It's not like I expected to have my mind completely blown when I did finally see the film. I just wanted a big, beautiful spectacle, and in that respect "Immortals" delivered in spades. So many bloody battles, so many beautiful bodies, so much fun. Plus, we got our first look at "Man of Steel" Henry Cavill's action hero prowess, which is very promising indeed. -Kara Warner
"Another Earth"
If you could meet another version of yourself, what would you say? What would you want to know? Director Mike Cahill asks these questions and more in his feature film debut that uses a compelling sci-fi concept—the discovery of another Earth filled with alternate versions of ourselves, people who made different choices than us—as a way to dive into human nature, the mistakes that we make, the lengths we go to find forgiveness and the ways we punish ourselves. Featuring touching performances from leads Brit Marling and William Mapother, "Another Earth" is not just my favorite sci-fi film of the year, but one of the very best movies I saw in 2011. Seek it out—you won't regret it. -Josh Wigler
"Jane Eyre"
We all know that 2011 was Michael Fassbender's year: "Shame," "A Dangerous Method," "X-Men: First Class," lots of high-profile stuff. But my favorite of his films this year hit theaters back in March, and I wonder if anyone else remembers it. Fassbender played Rochester in a really good adaptation of "Jane Eyre." His co-stars included Jamie Bell, Judi Dench, Sally Hawkins and Mia Wasikowska as Jane – a solid cast in one of the best literary adaptations I've seen in recent years. The movie is dark, intense and romantic. I think Charlotte Brontë would have approved. -Tami Katzoff

If you're busy shopping at a packed marketplace and someone next to you breaks into a jig, don't fret, just join in! Chances are it may be a flash mob.
It is the latest publicity gimmick that many event management companies, social activists, TV channels and movie production houses are using to create a buzz among masses.
Flash mobs have been a tried-and-tested technique abroad, but in India it is a new concept. It first started at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus when close to 200 people began dancing to Bollywood chartbuster "Rang de Basanti" last month.
Since then the trend has caught on and travelled to various cities like Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kochi as well as the national capital.
"Flash mobs in my opinion are a great new way to reach out to the masses, although they shouldn't be conducted so often that they end up killin
g the element of surprise," Ayush Gupta of Cabbageheads, an event management firm which organised the flash mobs at the capital's Janpath and Priya complex, told IANS.
Even though police played spoilsport during their flash mob, there was a purpose behind the activity, says the 20-year-old.
"We organised the flash mob with the sole purpose of opening minds around. We wanted to set a trend – a trend which screams of being bold enough to try new things! People need to loosen up a bit. Go crazy every once in a while. That's what we had in mind when we organised Flash Mob Delhi," added Gupta.
The team of Zee TV's flagship reality show "Dance India Dance" had also organised "Dancemobs" to promote the third season of the show. A flash mob of over 50 people began dancing at the Rajouri Garden market in West Delhi. From college-goers, shopkeepers and residents, lots of people joined in the flash mob and danced to popular Bollywood chartbusters.
"As per our research, 'Dance India Dance' connects with audiences across ages and is driven by the youth target audience. Also, it's that time of the year when a lot of people are out shopping or partying. Hence it becomes easier for us to reach out to more number of people at one go," Akash Chawla, Zee Marketing Head-National Channels, told IANS.
"The highest recall value of a thing is when it happens by surprise. Besides this, tapping the new media in a big way, the Dancemob videos will be uploaded on various social networking sites as well, which will help us to further increase our audience base," added Chawla.
According to the dictionary, a flash mob is "a large group of people mobilised by social media to meet in a public place for the purpose of doing an unusual or entertaining activity of short duration."
People of varied age groups are using online social networking platforms like Facebook and Twitter to organise such surprise dance activities.
At the capital's Sarojini Nagar, a group planned a flash mob against sexual harassment and female foeticide, and danced to "Sadda haq".
In Mumbai, southern star Dhanush led a flash mob and danced to his Tamil-English hit "Kolaveri di" to promote the film "3″, while in Kochi some enthusiasts danced to spread the message of peace.
The flash mobs are getting a lot of hits on YouTube.
Gupta feels "flash mobs will eventually fizzle out if they continue to happen at the rate they currently are."
"People should think new rather than follow the mob mentality. That's what'll make a difference," he added.
Pakistan now has its own version of Kolaveri Di, the Indian song that is racing towards the 30 million YouTube mark. And it's hilarious.
"Where is democracy, democracy, democracy ji," asks the Pakistani version as five men swing to the tune that has made Indian superstar Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush an internet sensation.
The song has become a big hit in a country that has seen a string of military strongmen, the last of whom was Pervez Musharraf. Speculation swirled earlier this month of a coup when President Asif Ali Zardari abruptly left for Dubai over a heart ailment.
The song says: "Corruption perfect".
The dancers then move around a lamp as the lyrics go "Distance la sakun sakun", a reference to the frequent power outages. Then it adds "Bill amount tight-u".
That's not all.
"Political money colour colour-u…money colour black-u."
There's more.
"Your palace light-u, light-u, my home black-u".
The video shows politicians and says "rise, rise-u, cheat, cheat-u, our future dark-u".
In the original video, Dhanush says "Super mama ready". The Pakistani take on that says: "Super drama ready."
Dhanush also uses a Tamil word "Kaila glass" and then quickly shifts to English "Hand-u glass". The Pakistani song says "Satyanas" and then corrects saying "Only English".
It also refers to "jungle law, qarza bojh…eyes full of tears".
Close to the end, the song says "God-u I am dying now-u" as the five men lie on the road and ask "Are you happy now-u".
"This song-u for poor-u public-u" says the group and signs off.
